FRIDAY' JOHN - Procession of the Sorrowful

At midnight on Holy Thursday, after the brothers focused, in adoration before the Holy Sepulchre, opens the door of 'austere facade of San Domenico and appears troccolante which begins the procession .

the foot of the stairs while over ten thousand people are waiting for us assembled in the streets' s output of the Madonna. The
troccolante is the brother who is holding a tool, called "troccola" for the strange noise that sounds when shaken, and is made up of a beautifully decorated on the sides which are attached four metal studs on which handles many flying . With the sound of the troccolante dell'incedere marks the time of the slow procession.
came down to the slope of the Via Duomo troccolante forward to stretch the 'whole procession follows the first of the two bands and soon after the bearer of the Mysteries of the Cross on that depicts all the symbols of the Passion of Christ.
comes after a couple of children, children of brothers, who dress like adults, but without mozzetta and hats and are called the "weigh" as wore to double standards, like stones, but today wood, interpretation of which is varied: some represent the weight of our sins, for others the stones' s stumbling found by Christ on the road to Calvary. In fact they are an expression of the ancient surviving medieval penitential, reconnect to the group of flagellates.
It is considered that the presence of three cross-bearers, who unlike all the other brothers to proceed barefoot, carrying on their shoulders, without mozzetta, a wooden cross in black. The number reminiscent of the three falls of Christ on the ascent to Golgotha. In the procession are interspersed with fifteen items, which follow the weigh.
The number of items, not always constant in the past, meant to symbolize the number of items of the Rosary by St. Dominic created it.
After this theory of their brethren who are guided by two "dealers", the only ones allowed to move normally to maintain the 'order of the procession, here is the throne, which has three brothers one of which, the middle is holding a stick with knob and tassel 's Silver, who represents' authority of the Brotherhood, which is not necessarily the priority, because in this procession is the brother of the successful tenderer symbol.
After the priest and some clerics here 's the image of Our Lady of Sorrows.
.
The statue, built in the second half of the seventeenth century, is the subject of an extraordinary veneration of the people of Taranto. The face while expressing deep sorrow, reveals a delicate features and an expressive beauty ineffable. She will raise everyone's eyes moistened with tears and her turn with deep emotion the most heart-rending prayers and supplications.
In his journey through the shadows of the night, the dawn and the brilliance of the morning until noon, the 'expression seems to be different shades. And in each section of the trail passes between two rows of the crowd moved patiently awaiting his arrival. She is the mother of all pains, one to whom everyone turns to love and trust.
Her black dress, a handkerchief, beautifully embroidered, holding his right hand and holds it above his heart overflowing with the left, to give 'a poignant picture of pain that becomes known poem' s soul.
is carried on the shoulders of eight brothers, four forks and four ritual dress, gown and gloves with blacks and a bow tie too ' it black.
Immediately after there is the second band, behind which a row of Faithful, women, men, young people who often walk barefoot and with candles in hand to fulfill a vow or live in a time of personal repentance.
The procession moves along a specific path that leads to the center of the village, where after a short pause, go back to the Old City to return to San Domenico at about 14.00.
The maddeningly slow steps is characterized by a classic swing, called "nazzecata", a languid rocking to the sound of funeral marches that are poignant, as has been said, the soundtrack of Rites.
